Minds Underground is the super-curricular division of U2 Tuition, partnering with leading UK and international schools to deliver structured academic enrichment beyond the curriculum.
Our programmes help ambitious students develop the intellectual curiosity, subject depth and independent thinking required for competitive university applications, particularly Oxford, Cambridge and other selective institutions.
We work closely with schools to design enrichment that complements existing provision, from one-off workshops to long-term programmes for high-achieving cohorts.

Super-Curricular Clubs & Academic Workshops
We also run ongoing clubs and workshops designed to stretch students intellectually throughout the academic year. Examples include:

For example, we recently hosted a STEM and Debate club for a London girls’ school, designed to encourage more students to explore STEM subjects and develop confidence in academic discussion.

Workshops, Masterclasses & Oxbridge/ US & Ivy League Application Events
We specialise in supporting applications to leading UK and US universities. For partner schools, we deliver university preparation workshops including US application webinars, admissions test preparation courses, Oxbridge-style mock interviews (we have interviewers in every single Oxbridge course), and subject-specific sessions such as Medicine interview workshops.
Essay Competitions
Our essay competitions encourage students to engage deeply with academic ideas and develop strong written arguments. Each year over 50 schools recommend our essay competitions to their students, with topics designed to challenge students across disciplines including economics, psychology, politics, history and science.
Essay competitions are particularly valuable preparation for Oxbridge-style interviews and personal statements, where students are expected to demonstrate independent thinking and academic engagement. We also co-run the British Psychology Olympiad with Aseeder.
Work & Research Experience: Guided Research Projects
Students work closely with an expert mentor to explore a university-level topic in depth, culminating in a research report or presentation. For example, we have organised over 40 summer research projects for students at leading UK boarding schools preparing for Oxbridge applications, including projects exploring stem cell therapies with a researcher at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute.
These projects help students develop independent research skills, critical thinking, academic writing and intellectual curiosity beyond the syllabus.
Online Academic Summer Schools
Our “Beyond the Syllabus” Oxbridge Summer Schools give students the opportunity to explore university-level subjects in small-group seminars led by expert mentors. Courses run across more than 20 degree disciplines, including:
