This 6-session close reading course is a glorious blend of the literary and the scientific, inspiring a summer of innovative thinking and wider reading. The course uses the well-known children's classic, Matilda, as a stimulus for wider examination of form and genre, incorporating close literary analysis and interrogation of language, with discussion of wider scientific themes relating to physics, design, engineering and the natural world. Opening students' eyes to interdisciplinarity and the power of story, whilst also encouraging them to refine their skills in writing, public speaking & presentation, it promises to be a riveting ride!
