Our Speech, Debate & Communication Summer Course helps students learn how to express ideas clearly, think critically and speak confidently in front of others. Through discussion, debate-style exercises and performance-based activities, students develop the skills needed for presentations, interviews, essay competitions and classroom discussion.

Time: 10:00 – 11:30 AM (UK time), daily
Location: Live Online (Zoom)
Age Group: Under 14s (most suitable for students aged 10 and up)
Format: Small group workshops + final showcase

What Will Students Learn?

Across the week, students will:

• Develop clear and confident public speaking skills
• Learn how to structure arguments and express ideas persuasively
• Analyse texts and themes through discussion and debate-style exercises
• Practise presentation and storytelling techniques
• Build confidence speaking in front of others in a supportive environment
• Receive individual feedback and guidance from an expert mentor

Each session combines interactive discussion, speaking exercises and group activities, helping students gradually build their confidence before presenting in a final showcase session.

Meet the Tutor

Alice – Debate & Communication Mentor

Alice is an experienced debater and educator with a background in British Parliamentary and ESU debating, reaching regional finals as a teenager. She was also the Senior National Winner of the ESU My Magna Carta public speaking competition.

Alice completed a Master’s (MPhil) in Classics at the University of Cambridge after achieving a First Class degree in Classics at the University of Oxford. She’s gained extensive teaching experience at Dauntsey’s School, where she led their debate provisions.

She brings clarity and enthusiasm to speech and debate coaching, helping students sharpen analytical thinking, strengthen delivery and communicate with confidence.
