The Cultural Revolution is known for destruction of art, architecture, customs and traditions. Less explored is how it fundamentally changed the lives of the Chinese people who both contributed to, and were impacted by, Mao’s policies. This session explores how Red Guards joined the movement before being banished to the countryside, and how this impacted China in the following years.
