This masterclass will look at English and British history through the ages to explain why the United Kingdom is still a constitutional monarchy to this day. The answer entails wars, revolutions, rebellions and, of course, lots of heads being chopped off! The overarching goal is to examine some key figures and events to piece together how the crown came to relinquish most of its power, as well as briefly looking at what the position of the monarch is today and why this topic remains relevant.
